I was awakened at 5 am this morning. To the sound of massive thunder and rain.
Perfect start to my day.
I tossed and turned until around 5.50. I was about to finally get back to sleep when suddenly my mother turned on the lights and told me to wake up. Yesterday she had said that if i didnt set my alarm, she would wake me up at 6 to do my tuition homework. I had.
It was set for seven. So there I was, tired lying on my bed and tossing and turning since the rain got worse. It was seven before i knew it, and i still had not slept.
My alarm rang. I set it to snooze 9mins. It hasnt always been 9mins. It used to be 3 but i changed it to 9. I cant remember how to change it back. 7.07 Phone starts to ring. Its the traffic police whee!
TP: Is this Mr Yong Fah Kiem( yes that is my mothers name)
I: Um, no my mother isnt in.
TP: Does she own the car *fuzz* A BMW?
I: Erm my father would be driving that car, though its under my mothers name.
TP: Yeah the car is in the middle of the road and it needs to be moved
I: Huh?
TP: Yes can you come and get it?
I: Im fifteen
TP: Er...can you get your mother
I: She isnt in, tell you what I give you her number
TP: Ok.
I go back to bed and guess what the phone rings before i can even shut my eyes
TP: Hello?
I: yes?
TP: I cant get your mother's number she is overseas.
I: Um she would be in Malaysia then
TP: Then what about your father, do you know his number.
I: He should be at work, in malaysia.
TP: He cannot be in Malaysia because his car is still here
I: -.- um can you call my mother...
TP: we cannot contact her, she is overseas
I: she can only be in Malaysia.
TP: this is a very serious situation, contact her A-S-A-P or I shall have to disturb you again.
I: Ok..........(WTF)
TP: tell her to call me back at THIS no ********
Did i mention my mom bought one of those new *intelligent* cordless phones, so i was fumbling with the phone all this while. I moved to my mom's room where the only "dumb" phone in the house still existed and tried to remember how to dial malaysian numbers. OMG its not like Singaporean policemen faced with "urgent and serious" situations cant dial numbers in malaysia right?? No...Instead you give the job to a sleepy absentminded pissed of teenager. I try to dial both my mother and fathers number. I kinda panic for 20 mins. I dont get any reply. No ringing tone, instead some weird musical tone that makes me want to puke. Then while i am trying every possible combo of digits in front of their phone numbers, 65-01-02- etc etc etc. My dad calls back. Wonderful.
I: Um papa. The traffic police called, they said your car was in the middle of the road
D: Yeah my car got stalled because it was flooding.
WTF THE TRAFFIC POLICE DEFINITELY KNEW IT WAS FLOODING. Something that I, barely awake could hardly have known. Yet. WTF
D: could you call your mother to handle it.
My mother called me just at that moment, on my hp.
I gave her the traffic police guy's number.
I would have gone back to sleep except for the fact that tuition was in a realy really short while and i had to do my tuition homework.
I cant believe that
1. The traffic police couldnt contact a Singaporean in Malaysia.
2. They dont have hp nos of the registerd drivers, only home no
3. They had to call the home of a registered driver and make threatening statements about serious situations to a teenager over a car that he claimed was "parked in the middle of the road" despite the fact that they knew that it had just flooded in that area earlier on. SELF INFER. YEAH YOU CAN CALL ME BUT DONT FREAKING THREATEN ME A SERIOUS SITUATION AND MAKE IT SOUND AS IF MY FATHER JUST PARKED HIS CAR AROUND AND RAN SOMEWHERE ELSE WHEN ITS KINDA OBVIOUS THAT IT GOT FREAKING STALLED. Oh yeah, he asked me to come drive it away. WTH if i could drive, I would like what? take public transport there to find a stalled car. I WOULD HAVE SCREAMED ALL THEIR FUCKING HEADS OFF IF THAT HAPPENED ESP SINCE THEY KNEW IT WAS PROBABLY STALLED
So began my day
