Speaking of the people, there were always too many despicable ones on the train. Just glancing around at that instant, she spotted and exhibitionist couple going at it in a corner, pretending that no one was around, a dirty old man leering at all the girls in miniskirts, those slutty girls in miniskirts, that turd of a lady taking up two seats and half of a third, that misty eyed boy to her left with the tousled hair and stylish carry-bag and faraway stare. Wait.
She eyed him out of the corner of her eye, he was splendidly dressed, from top to bottom, well at least he wasn't wearing flip flops or sandals for a start. She was no fashionista but she knew when someone looked good. Confidently good as well. Though those eyes of his seemed to hint at vunerablility.
"Hey Crystal!"
Oops, she thought, switching her attention back to her friends. Right, she had so not been staring at a guy, but as she gave a colourless and bland reply and laughed, she found her eye trailing once again.
Musn't. Stare. She told herself, she was after all a dignified girl of seventeen, with more than her fair share of suitors. He nearly caught her back then, but she had escaped, she hoped.
As the train ride stretched out longer and longer, she found the temptation increasing. It was absolutely ridiculous, surely not looking at him could not cause her so much consternation. But she had to, what if she never saw him again? What if he got off at the next stop? She had to.
That was it, and as the train ground to a halt at the next stop, she titled her head ever so slightly and risked a glance.
He was looking straight at her.
She felt her heart leap, and couldn't tear her gaze away. And heart beating fast, watched as a slight smile broke out on his face, and he flashed her an outrageous open-mouthed wink.
There was only one word on her mind
Creep
