I didn't want to think of her anymore, but apparently my subconscious has other ideas.
I had a very long and disturbing dream.
It was like CAP. All over again. Except that we were in virtual reality bodies. It was CAP, except Uday and Zhi Jie somehow managed to work their way into my dream.
CAP. Except she didn't hate me.
It started out weird. It was like CAP. But it was um. In a game-y cartoony place. There was chaos, and there was a mock war going on. It was a mess. Thing is, we were all in virtual reality bodies. For some reason. She was more open to talking to me than if it were in real life.
By talking I mean um. Well. Not really talking. More like kissing and the like. Just kissing. No talking.
Anyhow, after the first day, we realised that every evening we would be forced to sit in a very long ceremony that was boring as hell. She wanted to skip it. So I took care of that. Naturally of course.
While she floated around somewhere else away from the giant hall, I made sure she got her attendance marked, fulfilled my nominal duties and slipped away to meet her.
She was grateful, marginally as she always is.
The days in the dream were full, but the only important parts were the ones where I was with her. Those parts seemed a small part of the dream at first, but later it became the whole narrative.
It was like CAP, except that things in real life had already happened, and everything was happening despite that. Ah. If only.
The third day, or last day was the day when the super major ceremony was supposed to take place. I was some microphone bearer or something. (I know, it's so hilarious) I walked out, delivered my microphone, and sat myself in the back row, trying to figure out how to slip out.
I sat down next to Zhi Jie (incidentally, this is his only cameo in the dream, and his second cameo in my subconscious) And before I could slip out, there she was. Next to him. I asked him to switch seats and promptly forgot about him. Her normally smooth skin was covered in a lot of acne.
Oh did I mention? we were all zombies. Yay. This just makes less and less sense.
I didn't mind though. And we talked. We talked. And we talked again like we haven't in months. After awhile, to act coy or something, she slipped into the row right in front, next to Uday, but we continued talking happily.
She asked me for a lift home, my mom was coming to pick me up. I said yes.
And so things were set. Everything was fine.
This is where it get's fuzzy. For some reason, she turned into a dog, and I didn't know what to do. So I brought her to the in-charge of the camp. At her apartment, before she could settle anything, a VIP began to arrive. So we had to put things on hold.
She was a rather glorious dog, so she was introduced as the pet of the household. She behaved herself, until about halfway through the VIP's visit, when she started running crazily. Everyone tried to catch her but they failed, she ran out of the front door.
I ran into the lift with her as it started to go down, I was pleading with her.
And eventually I caught her before the lift doors opened on the ground floor.
Come back I said. I love you.
And she turned back into her.
I love you, I said again.
And she turned back into a dog.
We couldn't just leave like that though, so I brought her back to the apartment. After the VIP left, we left. And I turned her back of course.
The camp was strangely held in the middle of a military camp, and yes we were all zombies. But I had gotten the serum to turn us back into people.
Uday was driving us out. We were both in the back seat. And things were fine again as we were talking.
Then.
"Why did you try to run away?" I asked her.
She was silent for a long time.
"I don't know if you really love me or not" She said. And she flung open the door and jumped out.
"What the..." (from Uday)
We braked and turned but she was nowhere to be seen. We frantically circled the army base looking for her, but we couldn't find her.
I got out of the car near the spot where she jumped out, and Uday continued driving back.
I stepped into the tall grass. I was afraid. There were other dangers out there, the guards with rifles signified that. I also knew they would shoot a rogue zombie. I had to find her.
I ran and ran and ran jumped over stiles in the deserted confused fields, calling out her name. But I didn't find her.
The place was slowly becoming a warzone.
Screaming, fire, running.
I ran to a female guard on high alert. Have you seen a girl? In bright orange attire? Oh she's a zombie.
She stared at me confusedly. I gave her her name and told her to find her. It was very important.
Just then I spotted her, tugging at the edges of a black top, walking back into the perimeter. She probably ducked into somewhere and changed out.
There she is I pointed. And she rushed towards her as the other guards converged on her as well.
I don't know how or why. But I got swept away. Swept away in the general confusion and hysteria that was taking over the base.
A sergeant approached me later. He gave me her name.
We found her he said. She's in the first morgue.
No. I said. I don't believe you. I need to see.
I don't think you want to he said. Get someone else who knows her.
Okay, don't show me. Don't. I don't want to see.
It was at this moment when David walked by.
David I shouted. Go with him.
And he went into the morgue, and didn't come out again.
The sergeant did though. He handed me a file and I read the words on the pages.
"She was a pretty one, and it's a shame that she ended up ripped up so badly. She went beserk and we had no choice. Almost beyond recognizing"
A photo of her was at the bottom of the page.
I screamed. You told me you wouldn't show me.
And I screamed and I screamed.
I woke up.
I take slight comfort in the fact that now I realise it was virtual reality bodies all along. A fact that I forgot along the way, or changed along the way. But the thing is. There's no way I could contact her .
I should just forget this screwed up reality. It makes no sense.
